What Is SNC at Ohio State?
SNC at Ohio State is our campus community where college-aged young adults gather for worship, fellowship, and events throughout the week.
Who Can Attend?
We are a community for college-aged young adults, and we welcome students from Ohio State and other colleges in the Columbus area. We are an affirming community that welcomes LGBTQ+ individuals fully and without exception.
Do I Have To Be Involved In Everything To Come?
No, you’re welcome to come as you are and participate in whatever fits your schedule. There is no expectation to attend everything.

When Is Worship?
We gather on Monday nights at 7pm in the Ohio Union during the academic year. We do not meet during university breaks. Students are also encouraged to join Sunday worship at 10am at our main campus.
What Kinds Of Events Do You Host?
We host weekly fellowship gatherings like Donuts & Devotions and Brews & Blessings, along with monthly service projects, retreats, and other community events throughout the semester.
How Do I Stay In The Loop?
Come to a service or event, follow us on social media (IG!), or reach out through the SNC at Ohio State page.

Rev. Hannah and her husband Max live in Hilliard with their almost 2 year old, JD (John-David) and dog, Blu. Hannah is originally from Maryland and has a strong love for the East Coast, the beaches and all the seafood that comes along with it. She attended Otterbein University which is where she met her husband Max, and after graduating in 2015, went to Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC to receive her Masters of Divinity.

It was during seminary that Hannah was introduced through a mentor about the deacon track in the United Methodist Church. Bridging the church and the world through faith and justice is something Hannah has felt passionate about since a young age and is thrilled to be fulfilling this call on a deeper level, through connecting with college students and the affirming expression of Short North Church.

Hannah is thrilled to be joining the staff of SNC and getting to be able to serve alongside one another in ministry, fulfilling our call as faithful disciples while living into the Love Alive mission. She cannot wait to meet you!

Dustin Sable is a local youth pastor at Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church in Hilliard, Ohio, though he resides just a few blocks away on 3rd Ave in the Short North. Dustin is originally from the Finger Lakes region of New York. Dustin, has has also resided in Marion, Indiana, where he earned a B.A. in Christian Ministries and a M.A. in Biblical and Theological Studies, and in New York City, where he served as a Freshman Resident Director at Fordham University.

In the summer of 2024, Dustin got connected with Hannah, where he caught the vision of SNC@OSU, and he’s been with us ever since, first as a volunteer and now as our ministry associate. He is so excited about what God is doing at OSU!

Dustin is passionate about creating community for college students and cultivating safe spaces where young adults can deepen their faith, work through changes, or encounter Jesus for the first time. In his free time, he loves exploring Columbus and listening to podcasts!

SNC at OSU students & friends across the West Ohio Conference joined College Connect to discuss what they wanted out of the group by studying three different styles of worship in the Bible! Everyone agreed that full joy, mission work, and community 🔑are key factors to a fulfilling faith life🫶🏻 Because of this…College Connect is going to start church hopping on Sundays this summer to experience a variety of service styles! Hey! My name is Olivia and I am an incoming junior at OSU double majoring in Social Work and Leadership. I am on a study abroad and internship program that started in late May. This has been an incredible opportunity to learn more about Irish literature and gain an understanding of nonprofit and advocacy work. I have been able to see amazing Cathedrals, historical sites, and beautiful nature. I am so thankful for the Short North Church and Short North Church at Ohio State communities for their love and support for me on this program 💕

It was a joy to worship with Beloved UMC in Marysville this morning! This summer we are so grateful to be connecting with churches across our conference as Rev. Hannah preaches about our call to pour into the lives of young people l, recognizing a deep desire for belonging, and how God calls us by our name💙🦋 Isaiah 43:1-7. This morning was especially special kicking off the summer tour at Gigi’s home church and sharing about how SNC at OSU has impacted her faith journey in college! Gigi serves as our Outreach Coordinator within our student SNC at OSU executive team ✨

And snacks 😝 📍Hays Cape Room ⏰7-8:30pm Learn more about Chris below! 🔗 Chris Rehs-Dupin graduated from the University of Louisville in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts, and immediately pursued a Masters in English Composition, with a focus on Women and Gender Studies. However, life had other plans. After 1.5 years of graduate studies he gave up academia to become a full time camp director. Chris spent three years as the resident camp director of his childhood camp, Girl Scout Camp Pennyroyal, and then moved to Ohio where he ran the Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Elam Environmental Center for seven years, developing sustainable garden programming and a full educational maple syrup operation. At camp Chris focused on creating equitable spaces for campers of all backgrounds and developed comprehensive staff training materials that made training an impactful, and supportive experience.

Today all 3 of our campuses gathered alongside 60 churches from across the state to Grove City UMC. Our time together with Bishop Jung was meant to Inspire, Invest, and Invite Ohio’s largest United Methodist churches to build bricks to multiply 🧱 It was a morning filled with energizing worship, visioning of new church plants, and inspiration of God at work among Ohio! Rev. Hannah offered a TED talk discussion on the powerful growth of @shortnorthchurch_osu and digging ditches in the valley 🪏🌧️

Reverend Hannah VanMeter, serving as both the Ohio State University campus pastor and a pastor at Short North Church, reports a resurgence of faith among Gen Z students, aged 13 to 28, at the university. Contrary to trends showing young people turning away from religion, VanMeter observes a renewed interest in faith as a source of belonging and hope. @wsyx6

Her message is timely and will lead us through a conversion about “When Thy Neighbor Gets on Thy Nerves” 🗣️💓 ⏰Monday, 10/13, 7-8:30pm 📍Brutus Buckeye Room, Ohio Union Learn more about Stephanie here 🔗 I am originally from Boston, where I lived until I moved to Western PA to attend Geneva College for undergrad. I went to OSU for graduate school to study Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have worked at OSU’s Counseling and Consultation Center since 2019, when I started as a counseling intern. Now, as a senior staff therapist, I provide individual, group, and relationship counseling and provide supervision for trainees doing the same. I attend Linden Life Church, where I am involved with the prayer team. In my free time I knit often, am learning to garden, enjoy travel, and spend as much time outdoors as Ohio weather will allow. My name is Laura, and I’m a mental health therapist specializing in trauma. I’ve been in ministry-both part-time and full-time-for 11 years and was ordained as an Elder in the Church of the Nazarene. My passion for trauma care and mental health began during my time as a missionary in Croatia, working with the church’s refugee response. That experience deeply shaped my worldview and sense of calling. My husband and I have been married for six years and live in the Hilltop with our two cats and two dogs (one of whom is a very energetic puppy!). I love being outside, gardening (I have over 100 indoor plants!), practicing yoga, playing the trombone, and exploring new recipes. We hope to see you there!

I’m originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, but I have spent my time here doing my best to embrace the Buckeye community. Building and protecting community is incredibly important to me, and I can’t wait to share how the Rainbow Clinic is working toward this in our own Columbus Community.

This morning on the Oval was a reminder of two things: the gift of gathering in community (donuts + devotion always helps 🍩✨) and the reality that not every message we hear in this space reflects God’s love. Even in the midst of voices that divide, we trust in a God who welcomes, includes, and loves without limit. There is room for everyone at the table, and you are so deeply loved. ❤️

#LoveAlive Summer Update From Ava🏖️☀️ “I went to Bali, Indonesia for six weeks this May and part of June to experience the rich culture as well as to learn about how educational and environmental practices differ from the United States. I went with three other OSU students and together we observed several different schools to watch classes be taught and meet students.
