  • What Is SNC at Ohio State?

    SNC at Ohio State is our campus community where college-aged young adults gather for worship, fellowship, and events throughout the week.

  • Who Can Attend?

    We are a community for college-aged young adults, and we welcome students from Ohio State and other colleges in the Columbus area. We are an affirming community that welcomes LGBTQ+ individuals fully and without exception.

  • Do I Have To Be Involved In Everything To Come?

    No, you’re welcome to come as you are and participate in whatever fits your schedule. There is no expectation to attend everything.

  • When Is Worship?

    We gather on Monday nights at 7pm in the Ohio Union during the academic year. We do not meet during university breaks. Students are also encouraged to join Sunday worship at 10am at our main campus.

  • What Kinds Of Events Do You Host?

    We host weekly fellowship gatherings like Donuts & Devotions and Brews & Blessings, along with monthly service projects, retreats, and other community events throughout the semester.

  • How Do I Stay In The Loop?

    Come to a service or event, follow us on social media (IG!), or reach out through the SNC at Ohio State page.

Rev. Hannah VanMeter at The Ohio State Union

Meet Pastor Hannah

Rev. Hannah VanMeter is an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church and serves as the campus pastor of Short North Church at Ohio State, an inclusive and affirming campus ministry in Columbus, Ohio. As a deacon, Hannah is passionate about bridging the church and the world, helping people discover where God's presence is already at work in their lives and how they are being called to join in. 


A graduate of Otterbein University and Wesley Theological Seminary, Hannah is especially passionate about creating spaces of belonging. Through authentic relationships, she seeks to help students connect more deeply with God, themselves, one another, and the communities they are a part of. Hannah is passionate about connecting faith with everyday life and helping people discover their belovedness, purpose, and calling. 


Hannah and her husband Max live in Hilliard, Ohio, with their three young boys and their Weimaraner, Blu. Motherhood has become one of the greatest joys of Hannah's life, giving her a front-row seat to the wonder of watching young people discover who they are, whose they are, and who God is calling them to become.

Meet Dustin Sable

Dustin Sable is a local youth pastor at Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church in Hilliard, Ohio, though he resides just a few blocks away on 3rd Ave in the Short North. Dustin is originally from the Finger Lakes region of New York. Dustin, has has also resided in Marion, Indiana, where he earned a B.A. in Christian Ministries and a M.A. in Biblical and Theological Studies, and in New York City, where he served as a Freshman Resident Director at Fordham University.


In the summer of 2024, Dustin got connected with Hannah, where he caught the vision of SNC@OSU, and he’s been with us ever since, first as a volunteer and now as our ministry associate. He is so excited about what God is doing at OSU!


Dustin is passionate about creating community for college students and cultivating safe spaces where young adults can deepen their faith, work through changes, or encounter Jesus for the first time. In his free time, he loves exploring Columbus and listening to podcasts!

This evening we had our second Supper and Study led by Pastor Amy! The Spirit is clearly at work among us and it is a joy to celebrate it and reflect on its presence through food and shared community ?

This morning Rev. Hannah and some of our students attended worship at Powell UMC to share about what God is doing at Ohio State ✨ It was a beautiful morning reconnecting with folks and sharing about the amazing things happening on campus! We are so grateful for the ways that Powell UMC pours into the lives of young people and powerfully supports campus ministry. Their communion offering for the month of September supports this campus ministry at OSU and for that we are so grateful! ❤️☕️??

She hopes to showcase SNC at OSU in creative ways through social media projects ? Olivia “Via” Ramos, Treasurer 3rd year double majoring in Social Work and Leadership. She hopes to build more community and connections between SNC at Ohio State and Queer identifying students through partnerships with existing affirming student organizations on campus ? Abby Baldwin, Service Work Coordinator 4th-year Neuroscience major on the pre-med track. She wants to get more involved in the Columbus community by learning how local organizations are already serving those in need and finding meaningful ways for SNC at OSU to participate ? Gigi Bix, Outreach Coordinator 4th year Public Management, Leadership, and Policy major combined student who is also pursuing her Master of Public Administration. This weekend one of our SNC at OSU students and exec team member, Olivia, had the opportunity to be a part of the Ohio Young Adult Collective! This retreat was held at Camp Wesley, in partnership with the Cal-Pac Annual Conference. “I had an amazing opportunity to learn from The Changemaker Initiative and turn a cause I’m passionate about into a real project opportunity” ?? Olivia shared, “Queer people are often put into the position where we are made to feel that you have to choose being Queer or being Christian. I hope that through my project of our campus ministry collaborating with Queer student organizations at Ohio State, we can create meaningful community and show that regardless of faith, Queer students have a safe space of community at SNC. I am so thankful for the Changemaker Initiative, Camp Wesley, and funding opportunities from the Lilly Endowment, that make this dream within our reach.” We are so excited to see the dreams and sparks shared this weekend come to life and for change makers to lead courageously ✨be sure to stay tuned for ways to support this vision!

Our July service opportunity was volunteering at the Renew Refresh Restore Respite program through Scioto Ridge UMC. This program seeks so build community and meaning for friends with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. We had an amazing time talking about high school memories, our ministry at OSU and our love for the Buckeyes! ❤️? Being in community with one another, dancing, chatting, creating and building memories!

It has been such a joy to make these connections and develop partnerships with churches in our conference! Yesterday she was at Trinity UMC, one of our neighbors ?We are so so grateful for the generous support from the Trinity Foundation, and so excited for what this partnership ad ministry will become ??❣️

SNC at OSU summer share with: Gigi ✨? I was recently in Dublin, Ireland for the Global Young People‘s Convocation through the United Methodist Church! Not only did I get to stay in beautiful Dublin, Ireland, but also learn more about Christ and my identity in the UMC. This experience was monumental for me because it taught me that something that connects us all, no matter our race, gender, language, etc - we all were made beautifully by the creator and can follow in the Jesus Way however we see fit. I got to learn how different cultures uplift our Lord and honor creation and beauty. It was amazing! A bonus to the trip- Gigi got to connect with Olivia who also has been in Dublin for a summer internship! ???? it’s amazing to see how God connects us all, wherever we are!

It was a joy to worship with Beloved UMC in Marysville this morning! This summer we are so grateful to be connecting with churches across our conference as Rev. Hannah preaches about our call to pour into the lives of young people l, recognizing a deep desire for belonging, and how God calls us by our name?? Isaiah 43:1-7. MNW was spent in community talking about the women at the cross as we continue our journey during Holy Week. They stayed when others fled…because at the foot of the cross was exactly where they were supposed to be ✝️ We are with God in the suffering of the cross, just as God is with us. And we come together to sit in that truth and worship. All are welcome and invited to worship: Maundy Thursday, 7pm @ North Broadway Good Friday, 7pm @ SNC

Chris Rehs-Dupin graduated from the University of Louisville in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts, and immediately pursued a Masters in English Composition, with a focus on Women and Gender Studies. However, life had other plans. After 1.5 years of graduate studies he gave up academia to become a full time camp director. Chris spent three years as the resident camp director of his childhood camp, Girl Scout Camp Pennyroyal, and then moved to Ohio where he ran the Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Elam Environmental Center for seven years, developing sustainable garden programming and a full educational maple syrup operation. At camp Chris focused on creating equitable spaces for campers of all backgrounds and developed comprehensive staff training materials that made training an impactful, and supportive experience.

Today all 3 of our campuses gathered alongside 60 churches from across the state to Grove City UMC. Our time together with Bishop Jung was meant to Inspire, Invest, and Invite Ohio’s largest United Methodist churches to build bricks to multiply ? It was a morning filled with energizing worship, visioning of new church plants, and inspiration of God at work among Ohio! Rev. I am originally from Boston, where I lived until I moved to Western PA to attend Geneva College for undergrad. I went to OSU for graduate school to study Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have worked at OSU’s Counseling and Consultation Center since 2019, when I started as a counseling intern. Now, as a senior staff therapist, I provide individual, group, and relationship counseling and provide supervision for trainees doing the same. I attend Linden Life Church, where I am involved with the prayer team. In my free time I knit often, am learning to garden, enjoy travel, and spend as much time outdoors as Ohio weather will allow. My passion for trauma care and mental health began during my time as a missionary in Croatia, working with the church’s refugee response. That experience deeply shaped my worldview and sense of calling. My husband and I have been married for six years and live in the Hilltop with our two cats and two dogs (one of whom is a very energetic puppy!). I love being outside, gardening (I have over 100 indoor plants!), practicing yoga, playing the trombone, and exploring new recipes. We hope to see you there!
